Announcing our redesigned dashboard, docs, and location simulator

At Radar, one of our core values is to keep it simple. Today we're announcing new features that make integrating and testing geofencing simpler than ever, including a redesigned dashboard and docs and a new location simulator.

Dashboard and docs

There are three steps to integrate Radar geofencing into your app. Our redesigned dashboard and docs make all three steps easier.

1. Configure geofences

Radar geofencing is more powerful than native iOS or Android geofencing, with cross-platform support for unlimited geofences, polygon geofences, place and region detection, and more.

Our redesigned dashboard makes it easier to create geofences whether you're drawing them by hand or importing them as a CSV. A new environment toggle helps you create geofences in the test environment for development and testing, and in the live environment for production.

2. Integrate the SDK

The Radar SDK abstracts away cross-platform differences between location services, allowing you to add geofencing, location tracking, trip tracking, geocoding, and search to your apps with just a few lines of code.

Our redesigned docs make it easier to integrate the SDK for any platform, including iOS, Android, web, React Native, Flutter, and more. New sidebars and navigation grids help you find content quickly, and new code blocks have a copy button that helps you copy and paste code into your editor, making an already fast integration even faster.

3. Enable integrations

Radar supports a number of server-side integrations. Event integrations like mParticle, Segment, Airship, and Braze allow you to send events from Radar to other systems. Geofence integrations like Yext allow you to sync geofences from other systems to Radar. Finally, trip integrations like Olo you to start and stop trips and send live ETAs to other platforms.

Our redesigned dashboard makes it easier to enable these integrations and to verify that those integrations are working with event logs.

Location simulator

Between unpredictable GPS, tradeoffs between accuracy, frequency, and battery efficiency, and cross-platform differences in location services, building location features is challenging.

Testing location features is also challenging, usually involving getting up from your desk, fighting with the iOS Simulator or Android Emulator, working with complex gpx files, or downloading spoofing apps.

Our new location simulator is a playground that makes it easy to test geofencing without leaving your desk and without writing any code. For example:

  1. An iOS developer in Chicago could verify that a curbside pickup arrival notification is working properly for a store geofence in Miami.

  2. A product manager in New York could verify that an on-premise app experience is working properly for a car dealership geofence in Los Angeles.

  3. A marketing manager in Austin could verify that a location-triggered notification is working properly for a mall geofence in Seattle.

Using the simulator is easy. Just click around the map to simulate location updates and generate events. You can optionally simulate location updates for a specific user or simulate a trip. Below the map, you'll see an activity feed of all location updates and events. Events generated via the simulator are sent to your integrations, too!
